It's October 1st and another season of Mariner's baseball is in the books. Our Closer, Diaz, finished with 57 saves, the Team had 89 wins but, the Mariner's managed to keep a much sadder statistic going too- the longest post-season drought in America's four major professional sports. (sigh) Still,
@Cuda Cody (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/cuda-cody_1) & I managed to make the 2 1/2 hour drive to Seattle 5 times this season to cheer them on and had a BLAST doing it! And, we'll get 'em next year! :D Thought I would share two pics from the final game we attended on Saturday, September 29th; we had terrific seats (third baseman, Seager, is behind us) and the Mariner's illuminated 'THANKS' to their fans in lights behind 2nd base- classy way to close down Safeco Field if you ask me! :clapping:
Who else's baseball season is through? What records did your team achieve but, still fall short?
Any picks for the World Series this year?
Yep the Detroit Tigers are done as well . . Didn't get to many games this year, only one. Typically we get to at least 3 or 4 . .
Not sure we have any records, maybe the most players on the disabled list? :dunno:
The San Francisco Giants had a rough year. Today Larry Baer the co-owner sent out a nice letter. He noted that our season opening roster only played together 4 games. They are now looking for a new GM.
Spring training can't get here soon enough.
The A's will strike down upon on thee Yankees tonight with Great Vengeance. For they who walk thru the dirty Stadium shall fear no evil. We are with thee, your bat and ball they comfort us. For thy is the Kingdom. the ALDS winners! Amen! :crazytalk:

Here is how I feel with my Hometown Pirates,

OHH, how I know your pain.
I'm just stunned that the Pirates finished above 500. There seems some promise on the pitching staff, but until Nutting wants to spend money to get a big bat or two into the line up, we are left with just hoping to finish above the Reds next year. ::)

The Reds...any questions
Oh boy,
This was the first year that my Pirates could actually beat the Reds. I feel for you. I really do. The Pirates won't spend money to upgrade the team through free-agency. What is the problem with the Reds? I'm old enough to remember the Pirates losing the playoffs in 1972 to the Reds by a wild pitch by Bob Moose. The Pirates and Reds had some battles, even in the 1990 playoffs. At least the Pirates won 2 games against them...Then the Reds swept the A's in the World series.

A couple of my brothers and I went to Game 2 of that 1972 NLCS, remember sneakng down to the box seats Late in the game at Three Rivers.
Yeah , that Moose WP was sickening! Worse was that was still my favorite players last game ever, Roberto Clemente 21 !
Always did like watching Pete Rose , Johnny Bench play, when not playing the Buccos !
@MEK-Dangerous (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/mek-dangerous_85) do you remember the item in the attached photo ?
I bought an actual yellow plaid w/ purpleand white polka dot lined jacket made especially for Bob Prince years ago, one of my brothers has it

Your right , don't think The Terrible Towel will ever end, carry one with me when I fly , if the plane is going down I will be flying it , so they can at least know that's my right hand in the wreckage clutching The Terrible Towel.
Sorry,
jumped the gun when I saw 72.
The best team in Baseball in the 70's. A's.
My Indians are still in it, but they need to play a whole lot better than last night!
Two to three years ago the Reds traded off almost all there good players except for a couple for younger players, Reds went down hill fast
OK - I need the Brewers to step it up
Boston takes it in 6 games.
