That's awesome! Looks like your test went well . . Can I move this to the general area? I fixed some of your pictures that were sideways . .
:bigthumb:
WOW !! That looks great !! :clapping: Glad to see someone finally properly overspraying color on bellhousing ! :bigthumb:
It's gonna be like 1970 all over again..... I could hardly wait to go grab some gears....
Thanks guys.... no problem at all about moving my pics. I finally figured it out by posting certain pics that I took. If auto rotate is on, on my phone, when I take the picture, it will turn some of the pictures sideways when they post. This Cuda has been my project for the past 2 years and I'm commited to finishing it very soon. It's gonna be a really, really nice driver. I get zero enjoyment looking at beautiful Mopars that rarely ever move. :burnout:
Looks great so far!
Yes: We're liking this test.
Impressive details!!! Nice job. :clapping:

Thank you for the kind words guys. Sorry about the sideways pics again. Auto rotate must have been on when i took some of these photos. A good friend of mine installed the new sure grip unit and set it up for me. He also pressed on the new tapered bearings on the shafts. All the assembly and detailing was done by me... when I have time. Lol. Thanks for the heater box and axle stamps Cody. You are a truly a huge help. Steering column closest is the one I restored for my Cuda. The one in the background I put together with parts from the 4 columns it took to build mine and sold it to get a few bucks back. Lol
Rarely do you see the orange inspection mark under the 3 digit trans number applied correctly, it was put on while the trans was standing upright and dripped forward. I love seeing that kind of detail, great job. :perfect10:
Just gonna speak honestly and without reservation... GD that looks good.
Excellent f**king job, the attention to detail is awesome. Congrats, cannot wait to see more!
Fantastic attention to detail :drooling: Get job !
I agree with HEMICUDA, a lot of time nobody does that transmission mark correctly, although I've seen green used as well.
Only thing I spot that incorrect is the upside down front sway bar. :dunno:

I was kind of shocked to see relatively clear remnants of the factory marks on my rear axle on my A66 Challenger. Owned it since 1979, so it has been in storage for a long time. I think the grease and grime protected the marks?
Thank you guys :worship: That was just a test, on the sway bar. Wanted to see if anyone would catch that it was upside down. Lol. Just kidding.... seroiusly though, good eye Alan!! What's funny is I saw a post (probably on here lol) about sway bars being upside down a while back and sure enough when I looked at mine, it was upside down. I flipped it about a year ago and these are some older pics. I even double checked my original crusty suspension pics and sure enough, it goes the other way. Lol. Again though, thanks for the comments and I'll keep some progress pics coming.
Beautiful and detailed work-Can't wait to see the finished product. I am glad to see the sloppy paint blotches. So many resto's show these pretty perfect little paint marks. The factory was anything by neat and perfect. The marks I found on my Challenger looked like a 5 year old did them-LOL.
Here is a question for y'all. While restoring my Challenger I found tons of factory marks in all different colors. One thing I noticed was that all the colors seem to be a normal Dodge color. Red-orange-green yellow-white- so I thought why would they go out and buy special paint when they have all the colors right there in their paint dept. So is this what they did ?? Are they regular body color's.

As per MMC, the colors were similar but not the same as the factory exterior paint
This might help!

I also found this chart that identifies the colors used on the differentials contingent upon the ratio and stem size.
I would say some are....but not all inspection marks came for the assembly department at Chrysler....A lot of the sub assemblies like differentials and transmissions would have come from outside suppliers which had their own markings using their own media. :alan2cents:
Thanks For the info--just seemed like they looked very close to original paint colors.

Some more cool pics after glass beading the unibody and epoxy prime. Ended up replacing trunk floor (1 piece), trunk extensions, about 14 inches on each outer wheelhouse, trunk lid, full quarters, roof skin and front fenders. All AMD and all needing some "tweeking". Header panel and front valance are NOS.

I used Resto Rick's undercoating inside the quarters. First I scuffed and primed them with gray DP primer, then made cardboard masks and used magnets to keep them in place and to also hold the cardboard about 1/4 inch out from the inner quarter. Makes the edges a little softer and factory looking. Then I seam sealed the trunk using white 3M urethane seam sealer. Then i primed just the trunk floor, wheelhousings, tail panel and trunk gutters. The single stage FE5 with just a hint of overspray hitting the inside of the quarters for that sloppy factory appearance. My buddy ( who's welding inside the trunk above) wasn't too sure how this would look but after I completed the look, he was really impressed. He's been a Cuda guy for many many years and he was a HUGE help in hanging all my sheetmetal. He also was not afraid to show me tricky stuff and then have me execute it. A really good guy!!
