Title: Broadcast sheet question pertaining to engine code.
Post by: 750-h2 on December 14, 2018, 12:23:49 PM
I was looking at the broadcast sheet of my friends a 1970 4 speed V code Charger. It has a late March /70 SBD. On line 4 of the broadcast sheet under engine I expected to see code 122 but it is 150 ? Internet search showed that both these engines are 1970 4 speed 440 six pack engines but the 150 is marked late? Can anyone tell me the difference between these two engines [if any] ? Could the 150 be the 385 HP V code from 1971?  Thanks.

I love these sorts of questions...looking forward to learning the truth. If I were to fancy a guess, I'd say that the engines mated with automatics were coded 122 and the ones mated to four speeds were coded 150. Maybe since the four speeds had pilot bushings and other engine parts unique to stick cars, they had two different codes.

I looked at 1970 six pack build sheets online and all the ones I found were coded 122 but they were also automatic cars.

Automatics are 123. However now I believe there might be a second code for late V code auto's. :thinking:

My 71 V code 4speed Cuda (date B-24) has the number 412 ?

good question   :dunno: looks like b-bodies changed, but e-bodies did not  :clueless:

early 1970 model year
122 = 440+6 for 4-speed
123 = 440+6 for automatic

late 1970 model year
150 = 440+6 for 4-speed
151 = 440+6 for automatic
