At the moment I am getting ready to install an AMD rear shock cross member.
Do you have any photos or measurements with a reference point that will help
to get it installed in the proper location? I went through the service manual
and a few other sources but was unable to find anything.

Do you have a Cuda or Challenger? Did you already remove the old metal?

Thanks for the photo. Should have clarified that its a 70' Cuda.
The cross member is currently removed, though its the only part
that has been everything else is still installed.
This may also help, though it is a 70 Challenger
Shows cross member in relation to back floor pan, the rear side rails and placement in relation to the rear axle.
With my trunk floor out, you can see where the cross member is placed from the top view

1970 Challenger too. Looks like there's line up tabs on the frame rails.
As it's the only panel removed, I'd put it back on the old marks- period. If the diff is in the car, just make sure the shocks have a clear run up and down when the tops are in the X-member and centre it and you should be good to go. :cheers:
They have a locating tab, just line it up with that :alan2cents:
The rear shock mount cross member is probably the least critical member alignment wise just don't force the frame rails apart or together when you fit it, it should just fit in there nice and snug and the flanges and tabs will guide you for a good install. Get rid of those rear shocks this cross member is designed to handle standard type shock absorber loads, those spring or air shock absorbers will just make it crack around the mount holes them type of loads should be placed on the frame rails.
Just a quick follow up for you guys. I managed to get the new cross member
installed today. Though I was not impressed with the quality of the part. It
was actually too narrow to fit sung between the frame rails, buy about 1/8-1/4
of an inch. Plus I had to re-radius the corners due to them contacting the
frame rail and not allowing the tabs to seat properly. At the moment it is only
welded on the bottom of the frame rail and not the sides. I'm thinking I will
bend the flanges to contact the frame rail side and tack it in place.
Thanks again for the photos and tips to get it installed. If I can get my phone
logged in I will post a few pics of the old one. For the life of me, I can't figure
out what one of the previous owners was thinking.
