Is it advisable to mix different brands of DOT 5 brake fluid.

I am doing some work on my system and the DOT 5 brand I used is no longer available.   I read that you should not mix different brands.  But of course I don't trust the internet so I thoguht I would ask you good folks!  :))

I'm convinced brand mixing doesn't matter only use the same DOT# with the same DOT#. My brakes needed to be bled after the 2021 resto and nobody knew, or cared, what brand of DOT5 was in it previously. My brakes work perfectly.

Don't trust AI on the net. I also went to Reddit & Quora if that gives you more peace of mind with my post.

I believe DOT 5 is a standard, and all brake fluid manufacturers have standards they must meet. So you can use mix any brand of brake fluid of the same grade as it should effectively be the same stuff.  No different than adding PS fluid to your PS reservoir, Freon to your AC, grease to your bearings or gear oil to your rear end, you make sure to use the correct grade, but usually don't give much thought to the manufacturer of it.

Wow. to try to save how much $ ??
Always go with a new, sealed bottle of brake fluid and replace it all at once. Nothing to remember, regardless of type.
It was all replaced at the same time with fresh sealed fluid.
Once and done.
No how old , what kind, sealed bottle or previously opened etc ......
