Anyone have an idea why the casting date is not below the casting number on my 8-3/4? What does the 30103 mean?

The small barely legible casting date near the large "9" seems to read as "D 9 70" with the "0" in 70 being partially covered by the screw location. The gears themselves are date 5-21-70.

301 Day of 1970 - From what I have read the date code is below the 489 casting. My 489 case is different from yours cause my Date cast numbers are not as large....but mine reads 1789 right below the casting plus another number. So it makes since that it was 178 day or June 27th 1960 for a jan/FEB 70 build date.

I found out that D 9 70 is the older date coding used -69. D is month 4. would read 9th of April 1970 which make sense with rind date of 20th May 1970. number under 489 is not a date code.
