Trying to help my husband get his car finished up!

Took these Sun visor brackets off a 70 Cuda to replace the visor part.
There were only 2 screws actually holding them on. No matter which way I turn it, all 3 screws will not line up. Every combination ends up with one of the small screw holes lining up with the big center hole. The way I have it on in the pictures is the only way those 2 will fit but I'm not sure which way it should be oriented.

I'm wondering if they are the wrong ones for the car that someone had stuck on at one time?

Explains why there were only 2 screws on them but wanted to ask before I drilled new holes.

Thanks! Lori

Hopefully they are the wrong sunvisors. I once tried to install 70 visors into a 73 challenger and could only get 2 screws installed also. Maybe later year visors in a 70 are the same result.hopefully it the wrong visors

I never gave this much thought but coincidentally I just reinstalled my 70 sun visors to the car the other day. They had been out for a long time and I noticed I had to orient the triangles a certain way, I think it was with the longest edge of the triangle towards the front to get all of the holes to align. Post up a picture of the complete visor if you get a chance, they did change over the years.

Mr Cuda

Your not crazy, that visor will not line up.
72 and newer have a different pad pattern and style than 70-71.
The 70 base is more of a stamped steel unfinished mount, as it has a plastic cover that snaps over the triangle base.
Hard to find a 70, so you might have to drill.

Ugggh, another 1970 only part made of unobtanium....

I am sure I will need a pair of these mounts and will die on that hill trying to find them
You can't buy happiness, but you can buy horsepower and that's kind of the same thing.....

I have a few pairs of sunvisors in my extra parts. Is there a way of confirming what they're for.

Welcome to the '70s club! I know that Roseville Moparts has them, but just the visor itself and not the bracket, which you'll need to procure elsewhere (as you mentioned). And they are pretty expensive ($140) - and as mentioned, it's 1970-71 only. (Also, I would install it with the visor already installed on the shaft, rather than just the bracket.)

Sorry, a little off topic, what's the current story on Tony's Parts?  I thought Vans Auto bought his business and Tony moved to the west coast?  I've recently seen a few parts adds online from a Tony's parts but was thinking it was a scam?

Floyd

Tony's reproduction parts side of the business was sold to Vans.  The original parts (used and NOS) side of the business remains the same and is run out of DE.

I have this one. I'm guessing it's a 70 from what the previous post described it.

Looks like it. After studying these further the 70 has those long thin stampings / indentations along each edge of the triangle I guess for the cover to snap on to, whereas the later style does not.

Yup - that sun visor is a 1970 or 1971. I believe (and someone can correct me) they are the only ones that use the plastic snap cover.
