taking the car apart and i noticed this hole next to the ash tray door. Its a nice sharp hole that appears to be factory.

I've owned many E-bodies and have never seen this before.

Any ideas??

Joegrapes

Good question. I have a 70 GC and I don't have that hole.

Burdar

The hole to the right of the ash tray door is for the 4-speed reverse light.

kmiller

never thought of that !! makes sense the car is a four speed car.

thanks

sounds like the question is answered, but .....

if it wasn't a 4-speed - a Gran Coupe convertible would have the "SEAT BELT" light there

Shoooter

What size is the hole? Might be good for a reference if people need to drill one.

@6bblgt if that was for the seat belt light on a convertible and it was a 4 spd where would the seat belt light be? Are they on the overhead console on a hardtop?

6bblgt

yes, a Gran Coupe or a leather interiored 'cuda hardtop had a "seat belt" light in the overhead console

a 4-speed convertible with leather seats would have both the "reverse" light & "seat belt" light mounted on the dash

My friend has a deluxe leather interior on his 71 cuda does that mean it should have a overhead console?

Shoooter

And if so would that be a hard headliner like a GC?
