Which is correct for a 70 E-body, black plastic bezel or chrome bezel?

Thanks!

The one on my November 1969 SBD convertible is black.

Just to throw some confusion in the mix, my Feb '70 convertible switch bezel is chrome.

My 1970 R/T SE SPD 506 has a chrome map light bezel.

A friend with a 19 Mar 70 SPD Cuda has the chrome bezel.  I just dug up the photo of my 1 Apr 70 SPD Challenger with the original black plastic bezel in-place.  Our results don't point to anything definitive but after finding the photo, I'm confident the black plastic one is original to my car.

Thanks for the replies

I'd understood it to be:

With A/C - black

Without A/C - chrome

At least for '70.

Though as with most other parts, it would have been subject to substitutions, errors, and the 'path of least resistance' when putting a car together.

My car with the black bezel is an AC car for what it's worth, so that explanation would make sense.

It has to do with grounding.

A/C cars have the extra lower dash trim. With the plastic map bezel you use a ground strap to go from the switch to the dash frame.
Non-A/C use the metal bezel mounted directly to the dash frame and doubles as the ground.
