Have a 74 Cuda with Rally dash. Does the silver knurled trip odometer reset knob just push on? I have two of them ,one long and one short (approx. 2 inches and 1 1/4") It seem there is a rectangular opening but won't go on. Seems the long one goes on the rally clock (BTW how is that one fastened on? It cant screw on because it turns the clock hands n both directions?

I think the odometer reset should just push on but don't want to use excessive force and shove it out the back of the speedo. Any advice?

Its been a couple years since I had mine apart and I cannot find the exact reference I used to get the knobs off... Here is what I remember.
I believe the trip odometer reset does just push on - BUT I would not describe it as a knurled top - its more of a smooth tapered knob. Attached is probably the best pic I have of the trip reset knob - this is before reconditioning obviously.
Knurled top to me sounds like the clock knob. Sorry I do not have as good a pic of that one - but it has a hole down the middle. The hole down the middle is to insert a small precision screwdriver for tightening and loosening it. The manual seems to say there is a screw inside the knob - but I wonder if it is just to hold the shaft.
The other thing that I noted is - without removing mine and measuring them - they look closer in length than what you describe as the two you have...
Hope that helps.

All the knobs I have are the type shown on the clock, although different lengths. I guess I never had the smooth odo reset knob. Hmmm
