@Burdar  I think the console light for the shifter is cool but mine is fairly dim.

The cap for the light inside of my shifter is broken from how it originally sat.

My question is will it improve the brightness if I remove the green, red, and two yellow plastic transparent strips or should I leave them in?

I could also try to glue in that plastic cap that I'm pointing to with the small screwdriver but that seems like quite a nightmare.

Thanks

Neil

I don't remember those red/yellow lenses in mine...maybe I didn't have mine that far apart.

The main thing that dims the light is the big green lens I think.  If you remove that lens and replace the bulb with a brighter LED, your console lights should be a lot brighter.  :alan2cents:

Those colors are one of the cool features of the Slap Stik.... The indicator changes color depending on what gear your in....  Put an LED bulb in it & your done.....

Thanks guys.  Appreciate your input.

@Burdar

Sorry I have one last question about this shifter.

The area that I'm pointing to with the toothpick, is it going to be seen when I put the car back together as I did not take good pictures of this area and I'm thinking I should paint what I have in primer black if it's going to be seen?

Thanks

Looks like you have a 71-74 shifter slide in a 70 mechanism?  You need the slide with the round hole.

Burdar

Yes, you have a 70 or 74 mechanism.  The 71-73 mechanism has a more rectangular mast and fits the contour of that shifter slide.

The easiest and least expensive thing to do would be to get the correct shifter slide for your mechanism.

You guys are so good at this.  I'm going to get the different plate as I'm really happy with the way this turned out....minus  this black plate.

Thank you.
