Can anyone tell me what a console top plate is made of?

I was curious if they were an aluminum or a metal that is available? Or if anyone has tried making one?
Do you happen to have an extra 4-speed top plate Cody?

I've thought of that too but the originals have a raised chrome lip on the perimeter that would be hard to duplicate and it really adds the right look having it.

I always grab the four speed console stuff when I find it. Although they make new ones, people still pay big for the original stuff. Especially in original colors.
