Have a leaky 1970 pump. Fluid coming out at the motor side (cover plate and wire harness gasket). Anyone rebuilt a pump at home? or needs to be sent out for rebuild?

Replacement pumps are relatively cheap and look the same. I always replace the pump/hoses/cylinders when I restore a convertible.
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

I rebuilt most of my convertible pumps with o-ring kits from Hydro- Electric Corp. in Florida.  If yours is leaking from the end of the motor so should probably clean this out as well when resealing as it will just keep dripping as the motor is not typically under the oil.

As Alan said replacing hoses is definitely a good idea as well.  Cylinders in your situation could go either way I agree when putting on a new top they are definitely a good idea.

Yeah when I did my convertible . . I replaced everything as wanted to be sure it was not going to leak anytime soon.  Everything was available and reasonably priced.
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

Thanks guys.

Luckily I did replace the hoses....the old ones were as brittle as glass.

I wanted to use my original pump....has the factory markings and original sticker......it worked fine for a year, then sprung the leak......

Was wondering if anyone was brave enough to tackle the pump rebuild at home.....or if it is too challenging, then I'll send it out.

I thought I posted pictures of my pump rebuild on here.  Anyway, here is the writeup I did on FABO.  IIRC this only cost me $20.  They are super simple to rebuild.
