I bought a Tony's re pop console and the oem metal insert don't fit worth a crap.. anyone have this issue... these Tony console SUCK  I had to shave the glove box door down and other flaws  as it was the 3rd one I bought and finally kept this one ...  maybe a repop insert will work anyone chime in ?

I've used several of Tony's consoles and top plates supplied by David at Roseville. I always plan to replace the woodgrain with the more accurate woodgrain from DMT. So I have no beef with grinding both of the ends down to fit the console (usually wrecks the woodgrain with the heat).

The problem is with the reproduction top plate, not the console I believe.  However I don't believe I've ever tried a factory top plate in Tony's consoles, maybe some one else can chime in with their thoughts  :dunno:

I tried the top plate in an oem console and it fit great...  I think I will make a plate out of aluminum easier to make fit as these have plating on them.. the console is out of wack with an oem top plate I guess...

I have tried a OE top plate on the Tony's console. It can be made to work but the plate is a little to long for the console at the pointed ends. I ended up going with a factory console after spending time perfecting everything on the Tony's one. Like everything repop it was just little things here and there that I didn't like. Wasn't horrible by any means but just wasn't as nice as a factory one. The thing that bugged me the most was the grain just didn't form right along the side that shrouds the shifter. You know, the main part you see when you look in the passenger side window.

My original top plate didn't fit the repro console either.  I didn't want to modify my nice original piece so I bought a used original top plate and modified it to fit.  It didn't take much trimming for it to fit.  The top plates actually fit like crap from the factory.  Mine fits nice now.

My factory top plate and factory console fit each other perfect...
