Gauge housing

We are starting to put things together. The black plastic gauge housing has some whitish color on the inside of the pods.  Is this normal, Or do I need to paint this part?

It's paint and should be black. The chalked white is due to age / faded.

Try some rubbing compound on a cloth.  :alan2cents:
