Do you have to remove the left side muffler and shield to get the sender out?

Banana

Any particular wire sheathing material type to prevent sheathing degradation from the fuel?

I assume stranded copper wire best to use for flexibility?

Thanks

Jay Bee

Yes, stranded copper best for flexibility, you assume correctly. I've haven't noticed any issues with just the usual wire sheathing, but once it's in there you really can't see. I think I did put a piece of the wire I was going to use into a dish with gas and left it there for awhile to see if it degraded. Something you can experiment with. The insulation can always be stripped off, like the picture from the web, if you're hesitant to keep it on.

dodj,

I seem remember the sending unit being at the top of the tank and dropping the tank to get to the sending unit.
Here's a quick video that says you're right!
You just saved me a BUNCH of time and trouble!!!
THANK YOU Sir!!!

I had a similar problem on my 1970 Cuda. The grounding strap on these is short. terrible connection as well. I thought I would buy one of the 11" long grounding straps that are used on C-bodies I think. I installed it over the top of my short one to have two grounding points and immediately, that took care of the false fuel gauge readings. I was going to soldier on a wire as well, but it never came to that. I also did the meter gauge test as stated above with videos to help.
