Is all seat foam the same?

After taking the wife's Challenger on a 2 hour road trip we both agree the bottom seat foam in both front seats need replaced.

When I sit in the car for awhile I can actually feel the bottom metal seat frame through the foam.

The seat covers are mint so I'm hoping to just buy the bottom seat foams, remove the seats and have a local place swap them out.

Is there one brand seat foam that's the best?

Should I have anything else done to improve the seats?

Thanks.

I think they only sell the foams in sets of top and bottom?  :notsure:

A good upholstery shop should be able to firm-up/replace what you have if it's not totally destroyed

Thanks guys.

I do see seat bottoms listed for sale but I will definitely have my local upholstery shop check the seats out first to see if they can rebuild/repair what we have.

pictured in the eBay ad is not what you need for '71 Challenger

it actually looks like '70 'cuda  :dunno:

I noticed that.

I was thinking it was a generic picture just for the E-bay ad. :dunno:

it may be available now, but in the past

'70 cloth, '70 leather & '71 seat foam for a Challenger was unavailable

The shop that redid my seats wrapped the springs with a plastic woven fabric before the foam was installed. It reall firms up the seats. You might not need new foam if something like that is done.

When that foam gets old it can crumble too.

Would this be correct for a 1971 Challenger?

yes, that appears correct  :bigthumb:

IRON MAN

The Recaro vendor at Good-Guys-Pleasanton, Ca yesterday, said "the comfort level of a seat bottom is determived by the density of the foam". I sat in most of the seats on display and my buttocks preferred the most expensive seat Recaro has to offer ($3K each). Ouch! that hurts.

Amazon sells these to pad the ole gluteus maximus, may help prevent soreness after a long cruz.  ;)
