Mr Lee

So, I've read every thread I could find on this (even on the AMC forum) and I'm still a little unsure...  Am getting ready to paint my dash pad and don't want to do this twice.

The use of Adhesion Promoter has been well noted for painting the plastic interior panels.  But what about the vinyl dash pad?

Using the SEM products, their directions for doing the plastic are to use the Plastic Prep, then the Plastic Adhesion Promoter, then shoot the color.

Directions for doing vinyl are to use their Vinyl Prep, and then go right to shooting the color.  Doesn't say to use the adhesion promoter.

I know the directions are there for a reason and I aim to follow them, but I was just wondering what other people have done and what their results were ... for the dash pad and vinyl stuff only.  I'm good on the plastics.  Those are done and came out great.
Thanks.

Remember, wherever you go, there you are.

You do want to use the SEM38343 as an adhesion promoter after the dash has been cleaned very well.  What it will do is open the pores of the vinyl to accept the dye for better adhesion.  Don't leave it on to long before you wipe it off.
