Trying to restore the rallye speedometer for the Challenger I'm working on.  The needle is broken and the pointer end that was broken off is missing.  The second issue is that the plastic gear that drives the odometer is broken.  My initial thought was to try to find another speedometer.  Mine is the 70/71 unit, but the parts could be from any rallye speedometer for an e body.  So far no luck finding just the speedometer.  Is there any source for the needle and the gear?  Seems as though the needles breaking off was not unusual.  The gear I'm guessing was less failure prone, although it looks pretty fragile.  My last option would be to just buy a reproduction speedometer.  Does anyone have any experience with the fit, look, and quality of those?

Thanks,

John

You might try contacting the places that restore them to see if they have extra used parts  :dunno:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

Thanks for the info on the speedo needle.  I was on Instrument Specialties website and somehow missed it.  Duh!  I've talked with a couple of gauge restoration folks about the gear.  So far no luck, but will continue to look.

I had the needle made for Mike at Instrument Specialties some years back.  Cut both ends of your old one off and lightly glue the new one on, very easy deal.
