Stripped window cranks fix?

This is for my 66 D100, but it should be relevant to E bodies or any old car. Let's assume I don't want to do the old vise grip trick. LOL. Does any one have any ideas for fixing the stripped handle and the matching jacked up window gear? I think I can grind or file the gear on the door enough to get a handle on. Are these replaceable? I dont think I can salvage the window crank handle. But maybe there is a nifty insert or something.

Thoughts?

Were it an e-body, I would replace the defective parts with used ones in better shape.

Yeah, that is the idea. The truck is a bit harder to find and more expensive. I just thought I'd check before I spent $100+

well, you could drop spot welds on the shaft, then dremel the crank to match.

it may easier to buy a whole door, including the glass and mechanism.  swap parts around.

Yeah, that is kinda what I was thinking. I don't think I need any weld up any additional metal. It looks like it can be cleaned up with a dremel. The teeth are rounded over a bit but still seem to have enough material. The Window handle is trashed though. Looks like I'm out $100-$150 for a door handle. Perhaps that old school look of visegrips as a handle is in my future.

Research suggests the look very much like many other Mopar 196X-197X window crank handles.

What's special about the crank? Nothing I guess. That is why I mentioned the vise grips. However, it is nice to have the right part. I would prefer to fix the part than to buy one. I don't throw out parts just because they might need a little bit of work. I checked out some avalible wiindow cranks and none of them matched. I could but a cheap one but I don't know if they are universal fits, but I assume they are. The correct one is harder to find and cost much more than other styles that are available.

This is an image I found online that matches mine looks wise. It is a bit rounded on the edges, has square decorations, and the base has grooves. I have seen a lot of different types of window cranks for mid to late 60s that look quite different.

I may be stuck in e-body mode, considering this is an e-body forum.  I'm surprised your crank doesn't have the center screw holding it in place.

Yeah, I didn't mean for this to take of into specifics since it IS an E-Body forum and this is a Pickup from the 60's. LOL. I apologize but thought the basic topic would have relevance as I am sure many others have stripped gears too.

This is for a 66 or 67 Dodge pickup and the handle is different. The set screw is on the side.

Do you have a picture of the back of the handle? And the matching stub it goes to?

What about spraying a release agent on the shaft and then mix up a bit of the appropriate JB Weld, put it in the handle cavity and push the handle onto the shaft and let it dry. Basically re-cast the pocket. I'd also make sure the window mechanism works easily or you'll strip out all your work. Good luck
