Was looking at some wiring and noticed the 4th slot in the dash appears to allow something to be added. I've never seen anything in this slot, it seems to be empty in the ones I've seen. Was there a factory option or one available from the dealer?

Do you mean where the optional clock goes ?

We assume you mean on the standard dash on the far right.  As Alan said, there was a clock option available from the factory.  Nowadays you can get the clock or a tach for that spot.  Back in the 80s, I had one where I cut a hole in the "blank" that was in there and mounted a mechanical oil pressure gauge.
Contrary to the opinions of some, I am not dumber than I look.

I had the tach installed in the 4th hole.  It's on the small side compared to most tachs I've seen, but it's useful.  A prior owner of my car added an oil pressure gauge attached to the bottom of the dash frame to the left of the steering column.   I didn't want to add any new holes to the frame so I just left it there.

In the early days, I put in a vacuum gauge.........pretty useless!

When I had a standard dash, I installed an oil pressure gauge. I thought it was a poor place to add a tach being at the right end of the dash.

Yeah, I guess the space for the optional clock.

Yes, standard dash

hmmm, what to put in that space

Thanks all, I'll have to keep an eye out on what others have.

My first Challenger had the factory clock in that hole.

Yep, factory would have been the optional clock!
