I've been making some clocks out of old engine parts. Let me know if you are interested in one.  I've got 4 piston/rod clocks, 8 Carrillo H-beam rod clocks and 1 connecting rod clock with a wooden base.

piston/rod clocks $45 plus shipping
H-beam rod clocks $36 plus shipping
rod w/wooden base $45 plus hipping

The Carrillo rod clocks can be had in either Arabic or Roman numerals.  A 5.7 Hemi roller lifter lets them stand up by themselves. These clocks have a metal case and a glass cover.  The piston/rod clocks have a less expensive plastic clock.

Very cool!

How did you fix the wrist pin end to keep the rod vertical?

With a pressed pin setup you only need to worry about the piston.  A slight "adjustment" in a press will distort the piston enough to make it harder to move.  With a floating setup I used two set screws.  One on the rod and one on the piston. If you think the rod looks better angled to one side, it would be easy to adjust it.

The only paint on any of these pieces is a matte clear on some of the pistons.  All the rods are protected from rust by other means.

Nice job Darren. I bet you could sell a lot of them on ebay.
