For sale - 1971 (not 70 as previously thought) 'Cuda twin bulge (dual scoop) hood for $550.  Complete as you see it with scoop inserts (that retail for $240), "440-6" hood emblems ($85 retail) and underside insulation blanket (retail $25-$45) and hood pin holes.  Will include a set of hood pins with lanyards.  Painted in Dupont Chroma FC7 (InViolet/Plum CrazyPurple).  The Dupont Chroma is slightly lighter (more silver/less red) than the PPG FC7 paint.  Taken off my 1970 'Cuda when I decided to go with a shaker hood 9 years ago.  No dents or dings but it does have a few scratches along both bulges (not visible in picture) caused by two staples on the shaker hood box that were missed when it was slid inside it for safe keeping (lesson learned).  If you plan to paint it with any other color or paint than the Dupont Chroma FC7, then the scratches can be easily fixed when it is repainted.   Located in Pensacola - local Pensacola/Florida panhandle area pick up or delivery only.  Will not ship.   $550.

Is that hood originally from a 71?

I don't know.  I am not an expert on what is technically correct each year in hoods.  If someone else is and can tell from the pictures, I would appreciate any input.  This hood was on the car when I purchased it in 2010.  Shortly after, I ordered a 1970 shaker hood from AMD to replace it.  I believe that AMD sent a 1971 hood as it uses smaller diameter bolts to attach to the hinges than this hood was using. The shaker hood from AMD also has distinctive, different crumple zones that this hood does not have.   I don't know if this is an original hood or an aftermarket hood from AMD or other vendor. Any experts out there who can tell us anything about this hood from the pictures?

early "non-crush-zone" hoods have 5/16" hinge mounting bolts
the vast majority of "crush-zone" hoods have 3/8" hinge mounting bolts (arrived spring 1970 model year)

the 3 "round" reliefs for the "PLYMOUTH" emblem in the lower stamping arrived early in the 1971 model year

early hoods have 4 "rectangular" cutouts on each side, in the lower stamping - I don't know when these disappeared in the 1970-1974 production

6bblgt - Thank you for the input.  So this is actually a 1971 hood, not a 1970.  I will change the other posting to reflect that.  The shaker hood that I received from AMD has the smaller diameter 5/16" hinge bolts and the four cutout boxes on each side and no reliefs for the Plymouth emblem. That would indicate that the shaker hood is a 1970?  Someone else once told me that the shaker hood was actually a 1971 because of those cut out boxes.

I don't know when those 4 "rectangular" cut-outs went away - I'm guessing yours a later '72-'74 hood - maybe someone can chime in with what's on their later hood (check the date on your secondary catch - maybe original to your car or to the subject hood??)

the AMD SHAKER piece may have a combination of original features - but it sounds like it closely resembles a 1970 hood
