Question - can these be used in conjunction with a metering valve do you know, if someone wanted to add disc brakes to the front? I want to replace my reproduction part for an original part.

I would think yes but you'd also still want some sort of a proportioning valve behind it for the rear brakes as well. Originally when this valve was part of the factory disc setup it had 3 pieces in total, a metering valve ahead of it for the front discs and then a proportioning valve behind it for the rear drums as shown in the top part of this pic. IIRC both of these came off of drum brake cars that we had.

Ah OK - your picture really helps put the two versions into perspective.

I've been using the combo safety and portioning valve, but it's a reproduction and the design is flawed and tends to leak at the juncture where the master cylinder inlet tube is and the actual valve. (I posted my issues on our site in another thread and others have complained about the same thing.) So I think I'll just need to look for a rebuildable original combo valve and use that. I have heard though you need special tools to rebuild the valves. Thanks for your information and honesty.

The metering valve sensor technically requires a special socket/tool in order to extract it without damage.  I'd really like to see a picture if anyone comes across one.
https://www.musclecarresearch.com/ suggests a 22mm socket but that didn't work for me.
