You can't buy happiness, but you can buy horsepower and that's kind of the same thing.....

The reverse lock out system was only used in 1970 so no "correct year" issues there....however the pictures shown in that eBay ad are not at all correct for a 1970 E Body. :alan2cents:

Thanks Alan - I have become very jaded in trying to find parts, especially on ebay... what specifically is wrong in the ad?  I am always curious and amazed how you guys can spot that stuff so quickly

The one you posted may be E Body (I don't think so) but the cross shaft is straight which is typically for a four speed and goes above the exhaust. The one Sheldon posted has a dippy do in it and goes under the exhaust, correct for an automatic.

Were you able to locate the lockout linkage? I have a couple of unidentified linkage items in my parts box that may be what you are after. Maybe someone on this board can identify their use?

I did not find anything yet, so if someone can identify them and they are correct I am interested.  @anlauto, is this correct then for a '70 E-body with auto?  Any opinion on asking price?

Thanks

@Jay Bee that is great info, thank you!  On another note - seems like many out there are leaving this off the car.

Pros and cons?  I would like to make the car as accurate as possible, but not building a concourse trailer queen....

I believe the rod that attaches to the frame is correct, not so sure the other rod is part of the reverse lockout assembly. Definitely not a complete set-up! I was just offering it up to 70 440-6 in the event he was having a difficult time locating any of it. The link that Allan has provided is the route I would take.

Thank you guys!! Love getting info here!

Pros and cons of installing the lock out?

Top picture would be the correct set-up for your application.
If all else fails in your pursuit, I have most of it, long column rod, crossshaft, frame bkt all pit free, pictured ...I can likely round up the rear and lower rod if needed.
PM me if interested for a lot better pricing than on egag.
