The vin pad on the A727 torqueflite for my 70 Challenger is blank. Doesnt look like it was maliciously removed, just never stamped. I'm pretty sure it's the original trans, as the motor is still numbers matching. The numbers on the lip by the trans pan makes sense for it to be original. I found a post in a b-body chat where someone mentioned a "warranty trans".  That would make sense if the original trans was replaced under warranty back in its early life that the new trans wouldn't have a VIN stamped. Just looking to educate myself. Was really hoping to have a complete numbers matching car, but not looking good.

In my own opinion, if I were looking to buy your car, I'd be delighted with a warranty transmission over a randomly stamped 727. Can you post the other stampings on the machined surface just above the pan? (As I'm curious if a warranty unit would have them). I wouldn't be too disappointed in a warranty transmission, seeing as how you have a matching numbers engine. Hell, I wish I had a spare 727 non stamped unit on the shelf.

Let me be clear. I have a different crate 727 out of a B-body in the car now. This trans was with the car and the guy i bought it from gave it to a friend of his. That friend now willing to sell it to me. The number on the lip on driver side is PK53008101 0475 3349. Trying to decide if it's worth buying. The b-body ttrans I have was recently rebuilt.

70-71 stuff would have a part number in the 3xxx range.

53008101 looks to be an A518. 1990s?

musclecar era Mopar part numbers are 7-digits
PK "53008101" dates from the early '90s
& the date code "0475" is around 4/1/90 if they repeated the calendar after reaching the 10,000th day on 12/13/88
the "3349" is a unit number
