Trying to confirm what a particular A727 core I have might be out of. The unit came out of a '66 Fury so not original to that car. Converter is random since it was behind a '74 cast crank external balance 360.

In any event, the PK# indicates it is indeed a "340" trans. What I'm trying to confirm is if it's from a 340 Duster/Demon or 340 E body and whether it was a '71 or '72 model. The date code is Jan. 4, '71 so unless I'm wrong that would have still been in the middle of '71 production, no?

The numbers on the driver's side pan rail are as follows;

PK 3515843 = A or E body w. 340 (per the MyMopar "trans. guide" doc.)

3447 = Monday, 1/4/71

6529 = ??

VIN pad = 1B285294 1971 Hamtramck.

I have no plan to do anything with it at the moment except maybe clean it - might be one of the filthiest units I've ever handled.

Appreciate any input.

Thanks but what in particular identifies it as such?

VINs were assigned in batches by car-line daily (Barracuda, Challenger, Dart, Valiant) - this VIN sequence falls within a batch of early February '71 Valiants
