Hi,

Are these quality decals found on the 1970 vehicles red for Dodge, blue Plymouth. They are being sold on e-bay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Chrysler-Quality-Assured-Decal/233083217974?hash=item3644d7a836:g:sxsAAOSwBydbmnWy:rk:1:pf:0

Neat decals, but I've never seen them before on an E-Body.

Agreed, I've never seen or heard of them on an E-Body :alan2cents:

Hi,

Was told they were removed by the dealer during prep after sale. I wonder if there is a way to find out?

Thanks

anlauto

Were you told that by the person trying to sell them ?

From what I have been able to determine, the stickers were used when a car failed some area of inspection.  The issue would be noted on the paper work that flowed with the car and at the final inspection stage, the issues would be checked to verify that they were corrected.  Once the final inspection was clean of the issues, the sticker would be placed on the car to identify that it had been inspected and was good to go.

Thus most cars never got the sticker as simple issues were corrected during the initial assembly line run.  I have seen a variety of sticker types up through the years and Dave Wise has a section in one of his books talking to the various decals and there importance.

Hi Everyone,

Was told by three people about the sticker now. The gentlemen that posted here in the forum, the person who sold the item (naturally) and another Mopar guru in the Florida area. They agree about the sticker, only discrepancy is location. One says front passenger side bottom and the other says passenger rear side window. A third gentlemen say, they really never new where they went and just slapped them on.

Do you know what book talked about these stickers/decals from Wise?

Thanks everyone!

I was a new car prep guy at a Chrysler/Plymouth dealer from 73 to 76. I checked the cars in right off the trailers. I can tell you they came with about 10 to 15 stickers on the inside of the windshields back then. I never saw one like these but it was a few later than 1970.

I'm not feeling it for 1970s - wonder if that 84 is a production date  :dunno:

seems like K-car & Chrysler Corp. trying to play on Ford's "Quality is Job #1" ad campaign from the '80s-'90s

or maybe YES - here are some 1970 & '71 IBM cards with "QUALITY" & similar form numbers  :looney:

The Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth Body of Knowledge by David Wise goes into a bit of detail on the use of the above stickers and other stickers as used back in the day.  It is covered in Section 1.
