1970 Cuda 440-6 V Code Owner Seeks Valuation Opinion

Hello Forum Members. I am a Newbie to this page but an oldie on MoPars. My wife and I have owned  our 1970 'Cuda  V-Code since 1989. We are the third owners. We are thinking about selling this phenomenal car. It has about 85,000 original miles. The body is straight and rust free, other than some rust showing in the rear trunk. The engine was fully rebuilt  in July of 2018 by Pick Racing Engines to stock specifications using the highest quality parts. The dyno sheet shows 400 horsepower and 490 foot pounds of torque. This is an automatic transmission car. The 4.10 ring and pinion have been replaced with 3.24 ratio. I have the stock Dana gears and original manifolds. The car has headers on it now. I have every receipt since 1989. The car was repainted prior to our purchase and shows very well. The car has never been raced. There is a small ding in the driver's door. I just replaced the carpets and the installer said he had never seen a better floor pan ever, like factory new. Last week I replaced the gas tank, sender and related  parts. All work has been done by professional mechanics. Dyno Don Nicholson tuned our car years ago, however, a multi-carburetion specialist has set the carbs up on the dyno and she starts easily and idles nicely. This is not a rotisserie restoration but rather, a solid, very original car. All systems work  on the car. AM radio.

Is it an original N96 Shaker car ? Is it an original A21 front elastomeric bumper car ? Original number matching drivetrain ? Original fender tag ? Was there ever a broadcast sheet ?

Basically what I'm getting at, is that documentation is what drives the values of these cars.  :alan2cents:

Look at this post to compare the font? Might be a difference with a CA car?  :notsure: I've read there was a difference with the exhaust tips with CA cars?

Been watching too much Barrett-Jackson = $105k+

The current "driver status" combined with "an older paint job" and of course the "automatic" are all things holding it back in my opinion. :thumbdown:

GREAT options, colour combo, originality are all huge pluses  :bigthumb:

great car. i really like it. if it was a 4speed i would give a serious offer. don't fire sale that one. serious buyers will pay you a realistic price.

LA built car's Don't usually have build sheet's. They had a no trash policy. Nice car by the way!   :drooling:

I think Alan is right on the price, at least in my neighborhood. I would have said $55 to $60k.  My two cents worth

I don't know anything about the above posted cars, as I know very little about yours....I agree it is hard to find exact "comps" because most cars that run through auctions for big dollars are fully restored show poodles, not clean driver's like yours.

I would just sell it for whatever you're comfortable with :drinkingbud:

Valuing these cars, and finding a buyer for these cars, is seldom easy.
Finding "comps" is a difficult thing to do because these cars are uncommon and what's more pretty much every one is unique.  So many factors come in to play, and every buyer has his own set of priorities.  Some people won't touch a car unless it's numbers matching.  Personally, I don't find that metric very exciting, I don't spend a lot of time crawling under my cars with a flashlight obsessing on what number is stamped on the block!  I seem to be in a minority though.
I am interested in the engine callout on the VIN and an original fender tag.
Some won't touch cars unless they have a 4 speed.  Some are hung up on only wanting cars painted high impact colors. Some only want survivor cars, or all original sheet metal cars.
So in the end, a car is worth what someone will pay for it.  I know that's not much help to say though.
I have a V code Challenger I've had on the market for years.  4 speed no rust ever.  I've had it priced around 80K leaving a little wiggle room for negotiation.
As far as comps, if you look on Hemmings  there are 2 right now nearly identical except for color, one only one or 2 VIN off from mine. Ones at 130K, the other asking $135K.  Given that, I'm giving my car away right?
But wait, if it's such a bargain why hasn't someone grabbed mine years ago?
Auction results should be taken with a grain of salt, I attend many.  Many of the cars you see listed turn out to be perfumed pigs.  Others have questionable histories. Some of the reported sales are fake.  Some are bought quietly at below market by the auction house to later flip.
If it were me, I'd price your car in the $75-80K range or best offer and see what happens.  Maybe you get a lot of interest, maybe you end up like me with very little interest wondering why, and having people telling me they have no idea why my car hasn't sold as it's nice and priced fairly.
It's a crap shot, and I don't want to be a negative Nancy but it is important to go into trying to sell a car with both eyes open.  There just aren't hundreds of buyers out there with money burning a hole in their pocket ready to travel hundreds of even thousands of miles to throw money at cars.  It's a lot of work and time to find that "one buyer". Or maybe you get lucky and that "one buyer" appears quickly.

I think its a nice looking car, but out of my price range at that amount.
