What makes it a 1970 only setup?    The slip-in handle?

In my 40 years of working with Mopars I've never seen a bolt-on pistol grip in the wild...   even
on the 1973 4sp Challenger we converted to auto in the late 80s (yes, sacrilege but the owner
sucked at driving stick and that is what he wanted) it was slip-in handle.   Might have been replaced
somewhere in it's life, but the car looked unmolested.

Based on what I've been reading here I did some digging and it appears they did slip-in
for 1970 and 71.   My 1973 parts info shows the bolt-on, with the part number 3467732
that mccannix refers to.

Yes, the slip in is for 1970 model year.  1971 may have seen some to use up inventory, but the switch to the bolt in was for the 1971 model year.  I have never seen a slip in style on anything but a 1970.
Contrary to the opinions of some, I am not dumber than I look.

My December 70 built 71 Challenger has a slip in shifter handle.

unrestored $150-$200 :alan2cents:

Interesting.  I thought they would be worth more than that.

I guess it depends a lot on condition....I imagine the worst.  You might get more if you ask for more...

Wow.  Mine is certainly in better shape than that one.
