Hi All, new to the site and new to Mopar (GM guy for 30 years)
I've got a question on Hagerty valuations. Are they Low, or realistic ?
I'm trying to get a REAL MARKET value on a 70 RT 440 375 4 speed challenger coupe.
Built & modified #s matching engine, alloy heads, added 6 pack & shaker, aluminum case 4 speed, early B body Dana
(shorter) ?
Original Black on black, new interior, P/discs, P/steer.
Needs a little cosmetic work, but pretty solid.
Hagerty says 50K ? seems low compared to asking prices.
Any opinions and a realistic ballpark, would be great.
Thanks in advance

You should be able to insure it for whatever amount you want (within reason of course).  Did you ask them for an increase in coverage?
Remember, wherever you go, there you are.

Seems low alright. Seems like I can't go out and buy a tx9 on tx9 440 for 50K.

R/T's 4 R/P

I recently sold a non #s match U code 4 speed car. It was recently restored.
I would say 60k would seem closer to what you have.
Once you get above 60-65k your into the realm of some 6-pack cars.
As always, condition and options play a part.
But for insurance purposes that would be good, IMO.

Thanks for the replies
Sorry for any confusion.
I dont own it yet, just thinking seriously about buying it and trying to see if it's really worth what he's asking.
I'm down under and the price, with shipping and taxes etc. "translates" to around a 60-65K $US car !

I see #s 440 4 barrel RTs being advertised in the 70-80 range, so thought it was a safe bet, but Hagertys price has me a little worried, I dont want to be upside down on this.

This also needs some paint touch ups, bumpers chromed (or new) but otherwise presentable.
Would the engine mods, later Gearbox, 6 pack and narrowed rear end (no tubs) hurt value ?
It's nothing that cant be put back to stock.
Thanks for any feedback gents.
Cheers

I sold 2 U code 4 speed Challengers last year
Both were nice original cars #'s not restored but repainted and kept up.
I think 60K is a good number from my experience.

If you do buy it try getting a quote from American Collector's Insurance.  They will allow you to go stated valued within reason.
