I bought some solid tie rod sleeves but with the threads bottomed out I still have way too much toe in due to the length being quite a bit longer with the added locknuts. Stock sleeves are right at 8", my solid ones are 8 5/8" with the nuts. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone who has aftermarket sleeves can you measure the overall length for me?

ES319S is 8.25" O.A.L. if that helps.

That would only gain a couple threads - not enough. The sleeve really needs to be about 5/8" shorter so the overall is the same as stock.

If you cut like a 1/2" off of each tie rod ?  :dunno:  Sounds kinda redneck  :looney:

Can you take the new sleeves to a machine shop and have the threads cut deeper ?

Ya I could but it would probably cost more than I can buy new ones for so I ordered the 7 3/8" PST ones for $55 and hopefully they will work better. I`ve already put in a complaint to customer service at Classic Industries where I bought the ones I have now. I explained the issue and sent them pics so hoping I can get  refund or store credit for them.

Another example of non stock parts fit problems. Don't modify. If it doesn't fit, send it back.

After numorous back and forth e-mails with Classic Industries customer service we ended up with this -

"Hi Jeffrey,

I sent you the document to provide information on our Returns Policy. Since you've had the part for about a year, and you've installed the part, I don't think there is anything we can do for you.

Like I mentioned in my last email, you could possibly cut the tie rod ends. Otherwise, you could possibly cut and tap the sleeves.

Thanks,

Brian

I`ve already ordered new ones from PST so I guess these ones go in the scrap metal pile and I`ll never do business with Classic again. I sent them this response -

"I already ordered new ones from PST that are 7 3/8" long according to thier description, with the lock nuts should be the same length as stock and work perfectly. Since you don`t back the products you sell I`ll take all my business elsewhere from now on.
Thanks"

Hmmm. A part that is designed wrong should be returnable.

You would think so but apparently I seem to be the only one with an issue?

Too bad you don't live closer, 5 minute fix here.....

You think if it was a small company, then yea the fact it was a year ago and you installed it, should be enough reason not to take it back....But a big company like Classic....why would they care...shoot you a refund and tell you to keep the part....a happy customer is worth more then a few bucks :alan2cents:

$65 part, I`ve spent a couple grand in just the past couple months, some of which was from Classic but no more, I`ll stick with Roseville, Year One or other suppliers.
