Manuel

Hi,

Looks like my brake booster has a problem with its diaphragm according to the mechanic.

This is the way it looks,  is it original looking for the year?
(Think I have never changed it in 46 years)

Do they still sell that kind?   Were?
Did see a brake booster for sale in One Year but it looked quite different.

Can they be opened up to repair?

Thanks.

yes they can be rebuilt. thats a 1 year only part. not reproduced.........

Manuel

Thanks.

I am in Guatemala CA

Do they sell repair kits for it?
Were if they do?

If they dont or it has to be someone specilized to repair  it,  were can I send it in the USA for repair?

I agree with the Booster Exchange, they rebuilt mine last year and it turned out great.  :bigthumb:

Wow!

That looks great and it is from what I see the very same one that I have.

Do you happen to have a part number?
I was unable to find it.

Did you exchange or overhaul your unit?
How long did it take if you send your unit?

@Manuel I don't think they use part numbers.  Rebuilding is what they do and they rebuilt my original.  If yours is in good physical shape that is the way to go.  If you want it plated instead of painted (I did) it is important to know that the plating will not "hide" scratches, scrapes, or rust pits... they will be visible.  I cleaned, de-rusted, and polished out as many of the pits as I could BEFORE sending it to them.  They do not do the plating; it is sent out to another shop for that but the work is good.  They are a busy shop... it took about 5 weeks.  You can call them to get an estimate on the time frame... they are nice people.
This was mine before I cleaned it up...

Could someone tell me what that extra connection at the check valve (which has a screw blocking it) should be connected to please?
In other words, what is it for?

Also, how much vacuum should one get at the hose going to the check valve?

Thanks

anlauto

That extra nipple would be used for options like cruise control.  :alan2cents:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

Thanks for the Info Mr. Bill.
Wow, what a change from what it looked like!

I am still trying to determine if my booster is actually bad or something else.
Pedal is hard even with engine runing and there is like a hish sound according to the mechanic.

Will suggest first to check vacuum, how much should it read if they find a gage??

Any suggestions welcomed.

Manuel

Ah OK Anlauto, we will check it is well sealed.

Thx!

Manuel
