How to clean raised white letter tires

I've always use scouring pads and Cif on the BFG white letters. It works fine. The rears seem to go brown after a while, not sure why.

Definitely SOS pads and a stiff brush work best for me. Check out my before/after pics below using SOS pads and a stiff bristle brush.
