I swear I have a older brake master cylinder out in storage that has 2 brass cones, where the brake lines would install vs a cast iron unit. Is my memory correct, and can you replace these brass cones during a rebuild of the master cylinder ? I searched speedway and google and haven't found much yet, just curious if it would be a simple press job if so, also if anyone has done it.

Thanks

I have changed them , i use a drywall screw & pull gently with vice grips , you can just take a smooth file & take off any ridges & reinstall them too

Behind those brass inserts is where the residue pressure valves live...

ok ill take a look as far as if they can be filed again, if not have you found a source for them?

I have not , I am sure the rebuilders have access to them

Master cylinder rebuild kits, which aren't very expensive, generally include new brass seats.  They just press into place where the old seats were.

I know they did in the 70's & 80's....  Haven't put a kit in a M/C in years...
