I puchased some textured argents from 8774paint1 for my 1970 cuda. It was indicated that the light textured argent is for the rallye hub caps & the dark textured argent is for the fish gills.

I painted the fish gill scoops black & then painted the dark argent. Now, you almost can't see the high lighted scoops as it's real dark...almost like hub caps for the 1971 rallye wheels. Should the fish gills be the light textured argent?

The replacement rallye wheel hubcaps are a real smooth gray/silver. Should they be the textured light argent?

A little help here please. Thank you, Joe

I assume you're talking about the rocker fish gills.  Yes they're supposed to be the light argent also, not dark agrent.

I've always read the 70 cars used textured light argent and in 1971 they switched to the darker version.  Sorry I've honestly never studied the exact dates when the switchover occurred (in case that's of any importance).

your rockers should be a satin silver finish, the scoop and grill should match, the ralley caps are slightly lighter argent for 70

Roger Gibson and Frank Badalson have long proven that in 1970 the center caps and lower cuda gills are light argent and the front grill and shaker bubble are dark argent. I have also judged several original survivor cars and they also have these finishes. Argent has texture and so should your 70 center caps. 71 center caps have a dark argent finish.

Thanks everybody. I went out & painted the rockers, the 4 caps & part of my hand light argent. It all looks better...except my hand. I'll work on that next :)

Sorry for missing your original post. I will try to do better.  :bigthumb:

1970 Cuda:
Light Argent center caps
AND
Special rocker gill paint which most people have just painted Light Argent. Roger Gibson & Frank Badalson have the correct paint.
Their Catalog (page 11) shows Cuda rocker (Fish Gill) molding paint at $60/pint.

Thanks for the info. I'm way past that part. They will have to just stay light argent for a while. I did paint the gills which I see lots are not :) Thank you, Joe
