This is on my 79 W150 truck but I'll ask here also because you guys are just so darn clever.  :D The truck sits 1.25" lower on the left than the right. The cab and box line up very nicely with each other so I want to put a one inch spacer under the leaf springs to level it out. The other quarter inch is neither here nor there. The pics are of the rear spring setup. Can I remove either the spacers between the nut/washer and the lower plate or remove the piece between the top leaf and the U bolts to gain the extra length I'll need on the U bolt?
There's a 3.5" block in place now. Is it better to use a 4.5" block than to just add a 1" block to what's there?
The centering pin goes up from the spring perch doesn't it? So I will need to drill a hole in the centre of the new blocks and slide over the centering pin?

One more thing. I'll have to get longer U bolts for the front. Are leaf spring U bolts a special grade or will just a standard U bolt be fine?

I believe the larger u bolts are normally grade 8 and smaller diameters possibly grade 5.  I purchased them from rock auto and a local spring shop in the past if you have one close by.

Why not figure out why it doesn't sit level and fix that? Something must be broken or worn out....

That's what I would do.   a spacer is a band-aid, not a cure.    If a leaf spring or 2 are worn out and all you do is add a spacer so you feel better about how it looks...you might be driving down the road and have a total spring failure resulting in major damage when you crash.

I expect the springs are old and weak. It interesting that one side of the truck sits low by the same amount front and rear. Makes me wonder if the springs on one side have been replaced at some point in the trucks life. I'll likely pull them this winter and have them re-arched. The reason for the blocks was that in a couple weeks it's going in the arena display at Moparfest, Canada's largest all Mopar show, and I wanted looking as good as can be.

A 4x4 shop should have spacers , it needs a pin on top & a hollow below to keep things centered .
you could just upgrade to a set of Rancho springs , they are nice !
