Quote from: B5fourspeed on January 10, 2026, 11:17:50 AMI bought a spot welder from harbor freight to weld the new trunk gutters to quarter panels. The trunk gutters only go on one way. When I test fitted the quarter panels it made it easy to do with the trunk gutters already welded to the quarter panels.I also used the spot welder to weld the trunk floor extensions to the quarter panels and to weld the quarter panel to the outer wheel house. It was a big time saver and no grinding involved. The spot welder was one cheap investment.

B @B5fourspeed, did you use the 120 volt or 240 volt model?

B5fourspeed

I bought the 120 one.Great price and it worked great.

So funny mentioning the spot welder - my fabricator was complaining he had to go buy a decent one just for my project, but now at least he has one......starting to get excited except he keeps reminding me how much work it is, which translates to how much money it is!

Reuse or replace spare tire mount?  I ordered one, is EVERYTHING going to be like this!?!?!?!?!?!

Oh we have all been there in one form or another. I remember when I was building my car it seemed every time I did something it was at least another thousand or more. Although everything is so much more these days and not as available when I built my car 17 years ago. No way I could afford to do it now.
You will have a really nice car when your done and know 100% is solid. That will be worth it in the end! At least these cars go up in value every year as compared to a regular new driver type car that looses what 10-20 K as soon as you drive it off the lot and in 10-15 years they are all worth the same 100 per ton at the wrecking yard....
In what 5 years or less you will be driving a really nice car that you will be proud of! Keep your chin up we have all had calloused ankles as some point!

First off, thanks to everyone who comments - it helps a LOT!

I have started keeping an album of the progress, wondering what you all think of dropping a link here and sharing the album rather than downloading and uploading photos?  I know I always like to check out the photos, just trying to make it faster for myself - thoughts?

Also, any thoughts, comments or opinions about what you see in the photos is welcome - I have made so many wrong turns that feedback, good or bad, is very welcome!

Antonio is moving pretty quick, going to mock up the quarters today hopefully - that will be something to see!  Also, dropping a link to his Instagram if you want to see some EXTREMELY well executed custom builds

Happy Friday all!

Don't forget to weld the brackets for the jack that goes on the outer wheel well and the rear light wire harness holders that go under the driver side quarter panel. They can be spot welded on.

Me I prefer the individual pics vs an album.

As stuff gets posted, I create links by topic (window adjustment, blackout, mirrors, etc),

I know it feels bad however your car really is pretty solid. Problem is it doesnt matter if its a little rust or a lot, it still needs repair and costs time and money. Myself, I like the update postings here, I don't generally follow links these days.
