Power streeing box

Hi I have an early build dec 69 ebody the power streeing box and streeing shaft are a natural finish. All the ones I have seen are black . Would the natural finish be considered correct in some weird way ? Or completely wrong ? Thanks to all

Late to the question. But I have heard they came 2 ways. Bare metal or rusty...

Wonder if it was a year or mfg plant thing.
My 74 manual with no paint.
Converted it to power from a 73 back in early 80s.
Car was all original back then. It was/is bare steel also.
