71 Barracuda headlamp bracket

Finishing a lot of "smalls" to be painted.  I'd like to confirm the 1971 headlamp brackets do NOT get painted.  I've seen many just rusting out and no paint.  I have new AMD brackets so I don't know if I should just leave them as black from AMD or paint them so they'll be better protected or do they actually get body color paint?  My car best qualifies as a modified. Not original nor tribute car so accuracy does not matter.  Just what will look best and prevent / slow mother nature down in the future.  The pictures are some used I got as references.  Not sure if they came off a brown car with over spray.  I've seen other used parts with what appears to be over spray body color.
