What gets black and what gets body color in regards to under the hood.     I love the paint scheme, but I want something to show the body shop how it should look.

He mentioned a hard line where the fender meets the engine bay and from what I've seen it seems the fender gets the black while painted off the car so it bolts to the body color engine bay.

Not sure where the cutoff point is on the firewall.

Have search for pictures of AAR Cuda under hood shots and there's nothing that's really close up to show that the black was painted after.

Any help would be great.
It's getting close.

Your car is a AAR?? If so, look up Jeff Bangert on FB . He has some NICE pictures of a original AAR . Ask about the yellow AAR.

It's not an AAR.
I've just always liked the paint scheme.
I'm doing this for the stripes.

Doing a bunch of internet searches for a AAR Cuda engine compartment shows me two different versions of cars painted or stock.

Which one of these is correct?
I feel as though body matched is the way to go

Hey Chris, these pictures are from Alan's site. Of the 3 AAR cudas/clones he's done and/or showing, 2 have pictures of the engine bay and they are painted body color.

This AAR is supposed to be all original and it is blacked out like the 1st picture you posted.

I don't remember what mine was like when i did the engine compartment in the early 80's and I sandblasted it all anyways & have no pics from back then.

I'm trying to find some better detailed pictures of the firewall area, radiator support, hood pin plates, fenders, ect.      Or at least something in a really really high resolution so I can crop these specific areas to show them how I want it.

Although a survivor, this car was repainted by Roger Gibson.

The exterior of this car was repainted at one point but the under hood paint is believed to be original.

No car that I am aware of ever came off the line with a tape joint from the upper cowl to the firewall. it was done by hand and no tape joint. Unless the AAR was an exception.  :bricks:  Almost every car I see that has been redone has this sharp line that sticks out like a sore thumb.  :alan2cents:

If so I would not want him to paint my car, take a look at this hood.

cuda dad

It is possible the hood was not painted.  The description read that he repainted it the original rallye red but I do not have first and information, just this https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0115-204106/1970-plymouth-aar-cuda/
