So I have an opportunity to purchase the metal for this barracuda at dealer cost with no shipping cost. considering.

Can someone please tell me if I am missing something here.   And I know, off of pictures its hard to tell exactly.
The car is being sold to me by a collision repair guy who does his own hot rods.  So he should have an idea of what he thinks the car needs.  But I would like your internet opinions.

This is what I think it needs.

front valance
roof panel
both door skins
both rear full quarters
Extn, quarter panel lt and rt
outer wheel house panels lt and rt
upper panel above trunk lid
rear valance
rear frame crossmember
rear body panel
floor pan eomplete
footwells pair
underseat pan
trunk floor
trunk floor brace
quarter gutters
trunk lid.

I know that I can find doors pretty easily without skinning these
also can find valance's and trunk lid.

Pictures to come.

Man, that is a lot of rust.  It's going to be a lot of work to save that car and I do not see how someone that does it will not end up totally losing a ton of money.  But I'll be the first one to shake your hand and say thank you if you save it.  Love seeing them all saved.... so please save it and get it back on the road.

As for metal, why not just buy the complete floor pan section that is all pre-welded together?  It will save you money and a lot of TIME.  And we all know body shop time is expensive.

I'm not decided yet upon saving this car.
Aside from bringing it up to 8000 ft elevation.  That will stop the rust in it's tracks.

I just don't get any opportunities where someone will sell me the metal at cost.  Figured I would consider it.

I can only speak from my experience.  I feel it would be cheaper to start with a car with less rust.  Even if the metal was free I think it would still be cheaper to start with a rust free car.  Metal work adds a tremendous amount of time and cost to the project.  Unless you can do the work yourself and enjoy doing it.  Then it might be a bit closer in the end but I think a rust free or at least a solid base with little bit of rust would still be cheaper in the long run.   :alan2cents:

::) And of all things the inner fenders look pretty solid considering the rest. I really like to see them all saved too but that is pretty bad.  :crying:     :tool:

The frame work under the roof is in dire straights as well, and it is not reproduced, thus another donor car. With the car showing this much decay and rot, I would do a thickness test on the frame rails before getting to deep into this. A pillars look suspect as well. Good luck on this one Josh.   :alan2cents:
