Started hanging body panels for filler work.  Front fender from AMD just doesn't line up no matter what I do.  With the door aligned, what I consider to be exactly where I want it, the front fender hits when the door opens.  Even when I move the fender as far forward as possible, it still hits.  The profile just isn't where it needs to be.

Is this normal?  How do you go about fixing this?

Mr Cuda

I fit new AMD qtr panels on a challenger, using the factory rusty lid for fitting.
When the decklid ca.e in stock and arrived, the fit was atrocious.
I had to weld the entire perimeter, and grind the edge to fit.
And the center rib was flat topped not peaked.
I have not heard good things about the fenders. Seeing your problems confirm it.
 Grind and weld.

You're not replacing door skins, right?  If so, do that before you go to town grinding and welding to get perfect gaps.  I thought I had mine looking good until I replaced the skins, and then it was back to step one because they were way off too.  Aftermarket parts   :dunno:

Tough to see everything without being there but here is what I do see - fender is a bit high and needs go lower, fender dog leg needs to be rolled forward becuase if you look in the third pic (looking down along the side) the body line kicks out at the front of the fender compared to the door line, doing that will increase the gap in the middle of the door/fender. You may still need to do more to get the gap but that should get you closer.

from pic #1 i would suggest putting more body shims under the front bolts of the fender ,letting the fender pivot from the center of the fender in the upward position letting the gap equalize from top o bottom .

It also looks like the bottom of the dogleg needs to come up some to align the bottom of the fender to the rocker panel which will also help to line up the lower body line with the door line. This will also bow out the middle of the fender at the body line. Having owned almost a dozen Challengers, I can say most of them required me adjusting the doors and fenders to get acceptable gaps. They weren't gapped very well from the factory. It can be frustrating. Even factory fenders and doors seem to have problems. I look at your top gap in the 3rd photo and the curves on the fender and door aren't even the same making the task even more difficult. I've never had to use a reproduction fender and I always locate an original Mopar fender when needed. With patience and some good luck, you'll get this.
