Going to start working on getting my AAR hood on and not sure I want to trust just the hood pins thru fiberglass at 70mph or rare occasions I may hit 100mph. Anyone install a factory or aftermarket latch in the center and how did you do it - reinforcement plate etc.?

So it allows the hood to come up 4-5" before catching? I am looking for a solution that will hold the hood down tight the same as the factory latch would not a safety catch that lets it come up.

Yeah, it's the secondary safety latch, not the primary.
Same concept, just bolt the loop to the hood.

Mine is an AAR brand hood, they milled out provisions for both.

I was initially unhappy with the extra holes, but then 15yrs later I end up using them.
