Is this a factory body plug or someone else's idea of a plug ? I found two under the back seat and one on back seat floor .

Body plug.  I don't have mine in the hole right now, but this is the view under my back seat area.

Yup, stock.. Never understood why they used them when rubber plugs work so well....

Its called engineering. Rusted parts need replacing. rubber plugs last forever

Factory: I have always been puzzled by those as well, along with the shock mount plugs.

I believe they used the metal ones when they could be accessed multiple times. For example ,the metal ones under the back seat floor were to access the Emergency Brake Cable adjusters, and the metal ones in the trunk were to access the top Rear Shock bolts.

The rubber ones can tear easily when removing them especially if they were over sprayed with paint or undercoating. And the metal ones in theory would last longer with multiple removals.

Thing is the screws holding the metal ones would rust and you end up stripping the Phillips screw head.

i may be incorrect but that's my theory.....  :alan2cents:

That probably was their reasoning.
