Current Vitamin C Paint Code

Ran into body issues on my 70 Challenger RT build and having to do some paint touch up work. I need a gallon of Vitamin C paint. The car was painted about 3 years ago with Enamel which is no longer available. Trying to work with PPG to get the correct match to the old paint but they say there was one ingredient that is no longer made so no can do. Can someone help with where I can get the proper enamel paint mixed and the current Vitamin C code for that?

That's going to be super hard to do.  Even paint mixed to the same code does not always match.  Most painters will even "batch" the same paint when they paint a car so that all the paint is the same.  If you need a whole gallon it sounds like you have a lot to paint?  What spot are you trying to blend?

Well....its all rather embarrassing....The car was painted and largely put together when my builder discovered the door gaps and deck lid gaps are off by a fair amount. It has all resulted in a lot of body rework on the back half of the car. Essentially the back third of the car is getting repainted...Like a crash victim but never been on the road!!!

He said he checked all the gaps in metal and then in primer before paint, but somehow in moving the body to the paint shop, it must have shifted and the gaps are bad. Believe what you want, but I think he screwed up. His health is failing and I think it is a primary reason for this debacle.

Anyway, it is what it is and we are working through it...My fear is that the whole car needs reshot to be correct. What say you and what paint code should be used?

Hmm: No that doesn't sound right at all. There are a few pro's on here and I am not one of them. However depending on what was done I agree that you will probably want to scuff the whole car (or most of it anyway) and blow in the repaired areas and then put a coat or two on the complete car.

EPA and the tree huger's, got to love them. single stage does not blend well. Try having some one do A camera read out and see if they can come up with A match. A good part store that has A paint mixing system. You didn't say if it was your body guy or A jobber that you talked with. then I would get A few paint cards and try one, if it does not match maybe they can tint it and spray another card until it does.   :alan2cents:

That's doesn't make any sense to me?  :huh:  If it was my car, scuff and paint the whole thing.

Not much more paint and very little effort and it will be a for sure perfect paint match over all the car if you just paint it all at once.   :alan2cents:  I can not see you being happy with it if he paints half of the car with a "custom" match mix.

Thanks everyone and I believe you are correct...a exterior repaint minus the underside and engine bay with a very close match paint. gotta repaing the fenders, hood and deck lid as well....Pardon my French...but what a fucking debacle....do I sound upset!!!!

nobody answered the poor guys main question.
when you go to your paint supplier have them type in K2 or EK2 .
depending , they may have to search.
