Stripping everything out of the doors of my 73 Challenger so that I can get the hinges rebuilt, and repaint the door. According to my shop manual it says all I have to do is remove the 2 screws holding the bottom of the glass to the horizontal bar of the regulator and remove the window; spent a good hour removing the passenger side and it was a major PITA, and involved the moving of way more stuff.
Does anyone have any tips on removing the door window glass before I tackle the drivers door, to make it go more smoothly?

I removed the guide  ( top and bottom bolts  )that bolts  to the door that the window rollers slide on and then it goes out and in the door easily. Still a pain but it works without scratching anything. After the glass is in the door I put the guide in and slide it on the rollers and then bolt the guide to the door. Don't know if that's the best way but I just did it the other day and it worked for me.

So that's the vertical guide towards the front of the window that the 2 rollers bolted to the glass roll in?

This thread has a ton of good info for all the glass on the sides of the ebodies . .

Yes that's the one.

For me there's a difference between "gutting" the door and just removing the glass.

For gutting the door...
I roll the window all the way up.
Remove both up the front and rear upper track bolts through the access hole in the glass.
I remove the rear track altogether
Take the front track lower "L" bracket out of the door as well or at least remove the three bolts
Roll the window down
Undue the horizontal track from the glass
Now the glass is completely loose you should be able to wiggle it out of the door, pulling it out of the front track as you go, or if it's easier pull the front track out with the glass. You might have to remove the window fuzzies first....do that by removing the rubber down stop block and rolling the window all the way down first.
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....
