Someone bought an old dealership building for renting storage space and is considering offering me the paint booth, provided I disassemble and remove it quickly. Looking for thoughts on this. My shop is a 40x60, so I could make room maybe. I'm fairly well versed in open air automotive painting and haven't had a bad paint job yet, but am wondering about this style or if anyone has the scoop on them. Thoughts?

Sorry can't help you on the technical aspects but I would take it in a minute if I had the space

:iagree:  A paint booth was one of those things I wasn't sure I needed, but after owning one it's become one of my favorite places in the shop.  And it doubles for storage space when I'm not using it.  At the price of just labor to get it, I would do it if you have the man power to get it and a place to put it.

They've confirmed I can have it. Going to size up the job tonight hopefully.

Wondering how much work it'll be in taking it down. I'll be finding out soon.

@7E-Bodies bodies I think that is meant to be a prep station, For getting the vehicle ready n for the paint booth. in a big open shop it's full of dust and what not, so when you are getting ready for the refinish it isolates it from these contaminants. The big shop in the city near me has one, but they use it for small jobs when the booth it backed up. I would grab it and use it as i think it would be perfect for you.   :alan2cents:

Yes that's a prep station and works just fine for painting. Something to consider is it's power requirements. Most need 3 phase power and if it's heated require a big gas line. Those have always been a determent for me putting one at my house.  :alan2cents:

put it up and then rent it out to weekend paint warriors doing there own thing. good way to make a few side $$$

@Shane Kelley great points. Fortunately, I'm very 3 phase oriented as that's my main paycheck now. I also have HVAC licensure and fair experience. I don't have 3 phase in my shop, but I "have the means" (wink wink) to install a converter. I'll be checking ampacities though. Thank you!

Ok guys. I just came from looking at this booth. Sad part is my ceilings are 10" too low to accommodate this. It's roughly 11' high, plus the AHU ductwork. Might be ideal for a 12 or 14' shop. He asked me to inform the group that it's available but interested parties are required to provide the means of disassembly and hauling. Washington, Illinois. And he wants it out fast.  If you're interested, pm me your number and I'll have him reach out to you with details.
