I just installed the gas tank and fuel fill pipe.  I am curious if I should use a sealant between the boot and the trunk to seal water out.  I feel that the boot is not a good seal against the sheet metal.
Thanks

What kind of sealant are you thinking about?

Silicone
Undercoating
Flex seal
Cosmolene

I was thinking about a permatex or RTV?

I think it's overkill. If you have the muffler heat shields in place it would virtually impossible to splash water up there while driving, unless you're driving in 2 feet of water... :alan2cents:

I didnt notice anything on mine when i pulled the tank. The seal should be sufficient I would think.

The filler tube seal should fit tightly on the tube (to the point that it does not easily slide up or down). IMO, no sealer required.
