Is Garnet a bad idea to use on blasting a car?    The guy I was planning to use supposedly charges way more than he quotes and so I was referred to another media blaster however he told me he only uses Garnet on the ENTIRE car; whereas the other guy uses a variety of media depending on the part (different media for hood, roof, underside, trunk, etc.) and Garnet is something he doesnt use as he said is a bad idea.  Any opinions?

Send me your e-mail.

I have information on an e-mail regarding Garnet.

Garnet makes less dust, can be used at a lower PSI, is more aggressive on cutting action.
Therefore less time spent per square inch. Equals less hammering the steel.

The type of media is just a tool.  Like a hammer when doing metal work.  In the hands of the wrong person it can ruin things fast.  But in the hands of an experienced technician a tool becomes an extension of their body.

Check around and see if you can find someone with a Dustless Blasting unit, I have been following them for awhile and they advertise on Velocity channel.

There is an art to blasting.

Some good info:

I have a friend with a industrial blast unit. He had his employee blast a 70 Chevelle and warped the whole body, to much heat created. And you are right it is a art to it.
